The St. Johns County School District has agreed to increase pay for school bus drivers, custodians, teacher aides, and other support staff. The collective bargaining agreement, approved by the school board, amounts to a $1.2 million compensation package. This means a minimum pay increase of $450 for staff with 13 years of experience or less, and about $500 more for those with 14 years of experience. Starting from the 2023-2024 school year, bus operators and mechanics will see an increase in their starting pay. The sign-on bonus for bus operators will remain the same. The contract also includes the creation of a salary review committee for the district. As of October 26, the district had 80 vacancies, with 61 of those for bus operators.
