On June 24, 2023, the Fort Mose Historical Society and local militia will reenact the Battle of Bloody Mose, which occurred in St. Augustine in 1740 between Spanish and British forces. Visitors can witness how the people of Fort Mose and St. Augustine became players in the conflict that involved African-descended people and indigenous Floridians. The event will include two battle reenactments, an opening and closing ceremony, and other activities such as a Women of Mose station. The event is free, but there is a $2 fee to enter the Visitor’s Center. Participants can park at the Health Department Parking Lot and take a shuttle to the event.
