St. Johns County has approved a 3% reduction in water and wastewater customer usage provided by the utility department. On June 24, 2023, the Fort Mose Historical Society and local militia will reenact the Battle of Bloody Mose, which occurred in St. Augustine in 1740 between Spanish and British forces. Visitors can witness how the people of Fort Mose and St. Augustine became players in the conflict that involved African-descended people and indigenous Floridians. The event will include two battle reenactments, an opening and closing ceremony, and other activities such as a Women of Mose station.
