CHILD NEGLECT ARREST: The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Usina Road Ext. in reference to assisting Fire Rescue with an injured child. It is alleged that the victim fell sometime last month and sustained injuries which resulted in the victim being bedridden. The victim was found in their bed with their feces and urine surrounding them.Based on the condition of the victim and the residence, SJSO’s Special Victims and Forensics Units were requested to respond. A search warrant was obtained for the scene and evidence was collected. The victim has since been transported to a hospital due to their current health conditions and lack of medical treatment.“Crimes against children are one the most heinous crimes an individual can commit. A child’s love for their parent is unconditional and that should never be taken advantage of. The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office will investigate this incident fully to ensure justice is served as we do with all crimes. Please keep the victim in your prayers as they begin to recover from this traumatic experience,” said Sheriff Hardwick. �The Department of Children and Families has also been notified and a safety plan and placement was put in place.There is an active investigation underway.
