Surf Instructor Rescues Shaken 14-Year-Old at St. Augustine Beach

A surf instructor, Parker Sawyer, rescued a 14-year-old girl from the ocean at St. Augustine Beach, but was unable to save the 21-year-old man she was swimming with. The pair were in waist-deep water when they started struggling with the current. The man’s body was found unresponsive about a mile north of where he went missing. The girl and her mother, who were vendors from Michigan, were shaken up by the incident. The man, identified as Gerson, was from Mexico and had made plans to travel back to be with his family. St. Augustine gears up for 67th Annual Easter Parade this Saturday

The St. Augustine Easter parade has been a tradition since 1950 and will take place on the Saturday before Easter. The parade will feature the St. Augustine Royal Family, bands, floats, pirates, and the Easter Bunny. Those driving to the parade are advised to park for a fee in downtown and take the free shuttle service to avoid traffic.
