An open house is set to be held in St. Johns County to discuss the planned improvement project for the Kings Estate Road Corridor. The event will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, at the Lighthouse Church of God located at 1230 Kings Estate Road in St. Augustine.
The proposed improvements will cover the entire corridor, from State Road 207 to Old Moultrie Road. The project has been divided into five phases due to its length and expected costs. The first phase will start at State Road 207, include Hilltop Road, and extend to St. Augustine Boulevard. Construction for Phase 1 is anticipated to begin in spring 2025, with a budget of $5 million funded through impact fees.
Throughout all phases of the project, several enhancements are planned. These include travel lanes that will be 12 feet wide, five-foot paved shoulders, a two-foot-wide curb and gutter system, sidewalks on both sides of the road, and improved stormwater drainage.
Representatives from St. Johns County Public Works will be present at the open house to address any inquiries and share additional details about this future asset for the community.
