A 21-year-old man named Gerson Rodriguez died after being swept away by a current at St. Augustine Beach. Witnesses saw Rodriguez and a 14-year-old girl struggling in the water, and a surf instructor jumped in to help. The teen was rescued, but Rodriguez went under and was found unresponsive after an hour-long search. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Rodriguez was from Nogales, Mexico and was working as a vendor at the Clay County Fair before visiting the beach.
