June 29, 2023
Honorable Chair and Board of County Commissioners,
I have made the decision to resign from the County on June 29, 2023. Just over three and a half years ago while serving our community as the Clerk of Court and Comptroller I received the call being asked to serve our community in a different capacity, as the Interim County Administrator. It was shortly thereafter the Board of County Commissioners requested I remain as the full-time County Administrator, which I gratefully accepted.
During this time, I’ve been given the opportunity to work beside some of the finest, most servant-hearted people in our community. The employees of St. Johns County care greatly about their work but even more about the people they serve. I believe this is what has and will continue to separate St. Johns County from everywhere else.
Additionally, we have experienced the COVID-19 pandemic, devastating storms, and the tragic deaths of multiple men in our Fire Rescue Department and Commissioner Waldron. Without a doubt, this has taken a great toll on this organization and our community. But, even with all these challenges this organization and our community have persevered.
As I reach the end of my time here and the mantle of responsibility is passed to the next leader, I’m confident that the future is bright. When you have the finest, most servant-hearted people with an unwavering ability to persevere, the sky is the limit to what can be accomplished.
In conclusion, I want to express my deep appreciation for giving me one of the greatest privileges and honors of my professional career, to serve the place I call home. Thank you and may God bless St. Johns County in the months and years ahead.
Very Respectfully,
Hunter S. Conrad
County Administrator
