New St. Johns County Program Aims to Protect Seniors, Recover Lost Funds

A new program called Seniors vs. Crime has been launched in St. Johns County, Florida, to protect senior citizens from scams and frauds. The initiative, announced by Attorney General Ashley Moody and St. Johns County Sheriff Rob Hardwick, will operate from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s South Regional Operations Center. The program will be staffed by volunteers, known as Senior Sleuths, who will educate seniors about scams and help those who have been scammed. St. Augustine Man Convicted of Child Sexual Abuse After One-Day Trial

Jasper Oliver was found guilty by a St. Johns County jury on multiple counts of child sexual abuse following a one-day trial. The charges include two counts each of Sexual Battery on a Minor 12 to 18 by Person in Familial or Custodial Authority, Unlawful Sexual Activity with a Minor, and Soliciting a Child for Unlawful Sexual Conduct using Computer Services or Devices, as well as Transmission of Material Harmful to Minors by Electronic Device and Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device.
