The St. Johns Cultural Council in St. Augustine, FL, will be hosting a series of events centered around theater and textile arts. One of the events is “Thread and Bone,” a solo show by Lisa Egan Woods, a theater artist and heart-surgery survivor. The performances will take place on September 2 and 3 at The Waterworks on San Marco Avenue in St. Augustine. Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite. Florida Law Enforcement Issues Alert for Missing St. Augustine Man
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has issued a missing persons report for Orgious Harris, a 41-year-old man from St. Augustine. Harris went missing on August 1, 2022, and has not been seen in over a year. Harris is described as 5-foot-8 and weighing 200 pounds. At the time of his disappearance, he was reported to be wearing a black tank top and khaki pants. IT JUST WON’T DIE!: Demolition of Notorious Blue House in Vilano Beach Delayed following Discovery of Sea Turtle Nest
A St. Johns County home, known as the “blue house,” located in Vilano Beach will remain standing on stilts for a little longer due to the presence of a sea turtle nest. In May, the house was deemed unsafe by St. Johns County and scheduled for demolition. However, in June, a sea turtle nest was discovered beneath the property, leading to a temporary halt in the demolition process. A 16-year-old resident of St. Augustine tragically lost their life in a head-on collision that occurred on A1A at South Ponte Vedra and Beach Side Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). The incident took place on Thursday around 4 p.m. A pickup truck traveling southbound was struck by the teenager’s northbound vehicle after it crossed the center line. Both the driver and a passenger, a 53-year-old man and woman from Jacksonville, sustained serious injuries in the crash.
