Lanes of U.S. Highway 1 in St. Johns County, Florida were closed due to a plane crash on Thursday night. The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office posted the information on their official Facebook page, but did not provide additional details. Multiple sources reported that two people and a dog were on board the plane, which crashed in a wooded area. There were injuries, but the extent is unknown. The nearest airport is Northeast Florida Regional Airport. We’re told the plane may have crashed during takeoff, but that remains unconfirmed.
