A married couple and their dog were aboard a small plane that crashed in St. Augustine, Florida, after struggling to gain elevation during takeoff. The woman has burns to her feet, and the pilot has burns to 45% of his body. The couple’s dog died from injuries sustained in the crash. A bystander who witnessed the rescue attempt said the pilot was seriously injured before encountering the flames and had to jump into the fire.
