Former newspaper headquarters in St. Johns County sold for hefty $8 million price tag

A building in St. Augustine, which was previously owned by the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences through 1 News Place LLC, was sold to ESJ Capital Partners for $8 million. The property, which is situated at the intersection of State Roads 207 and 312, was constructed by Morris Communications in 2001 and spans over 14.54 acres with a total area of 34,400 square feet. The building was previously occupied by various organizations, including a distribution center for the U.S. Postal Service and the St. Augustine newspaper. Morris Communications sold its newspapers to GateHouse Media, Inc in 2017, following which, GateHouse’s parent company, New Media Investment Group, merged with Gannett Co. Inc. The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences had initially purchased the building in October 2020 for $7.535 million.
