St. Johns County offers free sandbags as tropical storm approaches
St. Johns County in Florida is offering free sandbags to residents in preparation for the arrival of Tropical Storm Idalia. Starting at 12 p.m. on Monday, sandbags will be available at six different locations throughout the county. However, individuals are required to bring their own transportation and shovels, as well as fill the bags themselves. Each person is limited to a maximum of 20 bags. The World Golf Hall of Fame and Museum in St. Augustine, Florida will be closing its doors after 25 years of operation. The facility, which opened on June 15, 1998, has hosted 16 induction ceremonies and welcomed as many as 280,000 visitors per year at its peak. However, attendance has declined in recent years, with only 40,000 visitors in 2020 and around 60,000 in 2021 and 2022. A former coach and teacher at Oakleaf High School in Clay County, Benjamin Davis White, has been arrested and is facing allegations of inappropriate conduct involving multiple students.
